Milorad R. Blagojevich is an American politician who served as a Governor (40 th) of Illinois from 2003 to 2009. A Democrat, Blagojevich was a State Representative before being elected to the USA's House of Representatives representing parts of Chicago. He was elected governor in 2002.

He is the second Serbian American to be elected governor of any state in the United States after George Voinovich of Ohio.

Before elected governor, Blagojevich was a Cook County Assistant State's Attorney. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1996. Blagojevich was arrested for political corruption. The Illinois House of Representatives impeached him, and the Senate voted to remove him from office in January 29, 2009.
